Butterfly valve is a device used to cut off water flow

SHARE TO:

Butterfly valve, also known as butterfly valve, is a valve device that intercepts water flow by rotating a disc-shaped or double flat plate valve. It is mainly used for pipeline water flow control in hydraulic engineering and hydropower stations [1-3]. Its axis of rotation is perpendicular to the direction of water flow. When closed, the valve plane completely blocks the water flow, and when opened, it is parallel to the water flow to reduce hydraulic losses.
The valve consists of a valve body, a flap, a sealing device, a shaft, and bearings, and adopts rubber band inflatable sealing technology to prevent leakage [1-3]. Suitable for medium to low water heads (up to 200 meters) and large diameter pipelines (up to 8.23 meters), equipped with bypass valves to reduce opening and closing torque, and equipped with air valves and expansion joints to balance air pressure and adapt to installation deformation [1] [3-4]. The operation methods include hydraulic drive (large and medium-sized valves) and electric control (small valves), which have both shut-off and throttling functions, and have the characteristics of simple structure and rapid opening and closing [2] [4]. The design of the double plate valve further optimizes the water resistance and sealing performance [1], but there are limitations such as high head vibration risk and lax closure of the water stop [2-3].
