Commonly used valve types in construction

SHARE TO:

The commonly used types of valves in construction mainly include globe valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, ball valves, etc. The specific selection needs to be determined according to the pipe diameter, pressure, medium characteristics, and installation requirements.

globe valve
Applicable scenarios: Water supply pipelines with a diameter of ≤ 50mm that require adjustment of flow rate or water pressure. ‌
Advantages: Good sealing and adjustable flow rate. ‌
Disadvantages: High fluid resistance, not suitable for large pipe diameters. ‌
gate valve
Applicable scenarios: Main control valves with large diameters (>50mm), such as heating pipes and main water supply and drainage pipes. ‌
Advantages: Good sealing and low fluid resistance. ‌
Disadvantages: Slow shutdown and high installation space requirements. ‌
butterfly valve
Applicable scenarios: Large and medium-sized (≥ DN50) low-pressure pipelines, such as circulating water and sewage systems. ‌
Advantages: Compact structure, low price, bidirectional flow. ‌
Disadvantages: Relatively poor sealing performance, not resistant to high temperature and high pressure. ‌
ball valve
Applicable scenarios: High pressure (≤ 320 gauge pressure) or corrosive medium pipelines, such as oil and natural gas transportation.
Advantages: Fast switching and good sealing. ‌
Disadvantage: High temperature limit (≤ 200 ℃). ‌
other valves
Check valve: prevents medium backflow, commonly used in water pump outlet pipes and water tank inlet pipes. ‌
Safety valve: overpressure protection, used for pressure vessels or pipelines. ‌
Pressure reducing valve: regulating outlet pressure, suitable for fire protection systems, etc. ‌
